From Bare To Green...

Considering we have reached June and the onset of the summer season, this signals the finale of my Monday Birch Tree Updates. This installation of my progressive photography (as once termed by Hilary, my good friend) also completes another series of my autumn Sunday updates From Green To Bare, which took place last year.

Never before have I payed such a close attention to this magnificent tree in our front yard, as during these past ten months. Not just to the tree itself, but also the changes that the adjacent trees and plants undergo between seasons. I have closely studied the yearly circle of the Birch and became familiar with the progress instigated by nature and ultimately by the ecliptic journey, which our Earth travels around the sun. The tree has almost become my friend, that silent sentinel, which I can gaze at every morning from my kitchen window, as the world greets me with yet another day. In twilight and bright sunshine, in still summer air and in windy autumn, green in foliage and bare in snow, it has been there to add ambiance to my views. Always the same, yet always different.

Nature is magical at the very best. If we only pay the slightest attention, miracles await to be discovered on daily bases. No need travel far and away, the best usually lies just a few steps from where we live.

Thus without further ado, here is a compilation of the four seasons of my majestic friend; The Birch Tree.

Great pictures. Did you enjoy the sunniest weekend one could wish for?
Today it is raining cats and dogs. Even a blackbird sought shelter in our bird feedinghouse.

Wow. I wish I'd kept a photographic record of the liquid amber tree that used to be in my parents' front yard.

I remember it being so light and airy in the spring with its rustling halo of green. And it was always such a dark and foreboding presence in the autumn with its black trunk and fiery mane.

Nature has a personality. It really does.

How interesting that you provided this vivid portrait of a beloved tree. We had a clump birch which looked very similar to yours. At twenty years old it was overcome by the birch borer which eats away at the cambrian layer and kills the tree. Now we have a Riverdale beech in its place.

I love your progressive photography mosaics, Zuzana.

We are starting our 8th year living up here in the Colorado mountains, and I could never imagine moving away from here. Each day is full of little surprises, and the view constantly changes and is ever inspirirng! :)

Happy Monday, dear friend!

What a wonderful photo story you have created. We have the Riverbirch in our front yard and I have photographed it in all seasons. I love the bark that comes off in the fall and winter and use it for art projects.
Great story. Blessings

I shall miss your tree collages! But alas, all good things must come to an end. It was a nice reminder to not just take things for granted and to really look at the small details because you're probably missing out on a lot of beauty otherwise!

It's also inspired me to take a closer look at the things around me. I hope I don't forget to continue to do just that.
